Wider attention to BRICS declaration

BRICS summit has received wider attention in the media as all major publications have published the reports related to the summit. It is notable that the summit has been held just after US withdrawal from Afghanistan.

“Was delighted to host the virtual #BRICS Summit in the 15th year of BRICS. BRICS has taken many new initiatives during India’s Chairship. Called for BRICS to contribute to post-COVID global recovery on the motto ‘Build-back Resiliently, Innovatively, Credibly and Sustainably”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said earlier in a tweet on Friday.

“Must stop use of Af soil as terror sanctuary: Brics”, says The Times of India in its lead story.

“Af soil should not be a terror sanctuary: Brics”, reports Hindustan Times in its 1st lead story emphasizing the need to strengthen global security.

“Brics to stem Af terror export…”, The Morning Standard said in a lead story.

On the other hand The Indian Express says “BRICS leaders don’t name Taliban…”.

Several vernacular dailies too have reported about BRICS summit and leaders’ concerns on terror.

“The BRICS emphasized that the international community has a collective responsibility to work together against the COVID-19 pandemic in the true spirit of partnership within existing international frameworks including the World Health Organisation (WHO), says The Freepress Journal in its lead story with title “BRICS leaders adopt Delhi declaration on Af”.

The leaders of BRICS summit discussed wider range of issues including global and regional security, COVID pandemic and co-operation, situation in Afghanistan and co-operation for anti-terror strategies under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
