Concerns over pollution has taken centrestage in Delhi and other parts of the country as level of pollution has increased at alarming level amid rising cold and festival prepeaations.
Although, both the centre and state governments have banned burning of stubble and fire-crackers but the level of pollutants in air is increasing at alarming level.
PMQ level and air quality index (AQI) are showing alarming level and level of AQI has increased upto 310 to 400 in several parts of the capital city. Although, experts say that PMQ level may be comparatively better this year but several health centres have found a spike in the number of patients related to pollution related ailments.
Meanwhile, more action has been taken to check pollution level in Delhi and other parts of the country as polluting units have been asked to close their operation considering the pollution level and health hazards. Several cities have banned sale and use of firecrackers during the festival season.
On the other hand, traders have decided to supply eco-freindly diyas (lamps), made of cow dung. According to traders' body over 80 million such diyas have been ordered for the festival this year.
