The twin
blasts amid the evacuation process, that killed over 80 people including 13 US
soldiers, are certainly big blow to the peaceful evacuation process in the
region as well as Taliban’s supremacy in Afghanistan. As US President Joe Biden
vowed to avenge the deaths of 13 US service members, killed in deadly suicide bomb
attack at the Kabul airport, it was expected that the evacuation process might
be extended. But he promised to complete the evacuation process but said “We
will hunt you down and make you pay”.
It is
notable that IS has taken the responsibility of the suicide blast and the US
President has instructed the US military to strike “assets, leadership and
facilities.”
The
unfolding of Afghanistan developments have emerged as big concern in the entire
region. While over a million Afghan people have took shelter in other nations
in last few months including US, UK, NATO countries, Pakistan, Iran,
Tajikistan, Turkey and some others too have opened door for Afghan nationals. Pakistan
has openly supported the Taliban on several occasions. On the other hand, MEA
S. Jayashankar gave a detailed briefing to the all political parties in India
on Thursday and said that safe evacuation of Indians is the priority of the
government at this time rather than diplomacy. But, sudden developments, took place on
Thursday has raised security concerns, apart from diplomatic concerns of the
government.
Other
nations, like Bangladesh, Myanmar are although not directly share their border
but they too are worried about rise of extremist or terror activities in their
countries.
According to an estimate, over 70,000 people have been killed so far in Afghanistan alone due to terror attacks. In such a situation a spillover effect of terror raises major concerns for India as well as its neighbours despite US pledge to finish terror groups.
