A fresh date for the execution of death warrant has been issued for the convicts of Nirbhaya case. The execution will now take place on 1st February 2020. President today rejected mercy plea of the convict Mukesh Kumar Singh in Nirbhya rape case. The rejection came after the recommendations made by the Lt. Governor and Home ministry.
Earlier, All four convicts of the Nirbhaya gangrape case were already issued death warrants for 22nd January by a city court. But the city government raised technical-legal issues in the execution of the death sentence of all four convicts in the court. But the rejection by the president has limited the possibilities to delay in the execution, say reports.
Supreme court and high court have already rejected the curative petitions filed by convict Mukesh Kumar Singh in seven year old case.  Mukesh Kumar Singh; Vinay Sharma, Akshay Kumar Singh and Pawan Gupta were found guilty for raping a 23 year old female in a moving bus in New Delhi in 2012.
