Snooping, a much debated issue, hits headlines again as the global media has raised the issue of snooping by tech firms and selling spyware and data of some of the top politicians, officials, journalists and businessmen to certain clients.
Although,
snooping is not a new issue but this is probably first time a global network of
data miner and spyware tech firm, a media house and government’s connection has
been revealed in the media. However, it is difficult to say that the spyware
tech firm is the only firm, involved in such activities.
Those, who
come from the data technology and IT back background, are well aware of the
fact that snooping as well as getting (or stealing) data from the mobile phones
and laptops or internet connected device is not much difficult in these days as
technologies are easily available. And, the names appeared in the report is not
ultimate. The number of victims may be much more than the number appeared in the report. There may be 100 times more people are being snooped everyday by the tech firms and government agencies as claimed in the reports and their data are sold in the market.
As people
are now almost used to for these activities, so there is hardly any big discussion on
the issue these days. But the issue is certainly a serious matter and it needs
a serious intervention too.
