Historical
victory of the BJP in the assembly polls has again reflected that Modi-Shah
magic is intact among the masses despite all permutation and combination. On
the other hand AAP too has emerged as a powerful national player in the polls
with unprecedented landslide victory in Punjab.
While BJP
has won four assemblies out of five as the results or trends of counting came
out, creating a new history of pro-incumbency in the states’ polls including in
Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.
According
to political observers and commentators, this indicates that BJP has been more
systematic, work and target oriented in its campaign during the polls than
other parties . Moreover, it also indicates that Modi-Shah and Nadda’s trio’s combination
apart from leaders like Rajnath Singh and Yogi Adityanath have created a new
chemistry that declared all the speculations, made by the opposition, wrong.
Although,
the same combination has not worked in Punjab, which has been considered as
very sensitive state, despite the fact that ruling Congress has been badly
defeated by a tiny unicorn AAP. Emerged
from a middle class movement, the party has been able to win over 3/4 majority
in the polls. Even several AAP leaders have been unable to digest this huge big
support. However, the same party has
been not able to win trust of the people of Goa or Uttarakhand despite all
efforts.
On the
other hand, BJP has also changed the history of UP and Uttarakhand by repeating
victory. In the North-Eastern state of Manipur too BJP is in a comfortable
position to retain power.
Congress,
has not been able to retain its power in the state of Punjab and its experiment
to remove its veteran leader Captain Amrindar Singh and to bring new leader for
state’s party president’s post and CM’s
post have ruined the prospect of the party in the state.
But result
in UP is much more complex for poll pundits amid the allegations of EVMs’
misuse by the opposition SP and needs a detailed analysis that whether the
narrative has been created and crafted by opposition on false and baseless
narratives or local people have been stopped believing on substance of
democracy amid the corporate style functioning of the political parties.
Despite all these facts, BJP’s return with
bang and unprecedented rise of AAP in the assembly polls tells that time has
come to reconsider the future of centralist or liberal politics and ideology in
the fast evolving world.
