As online classes or
virtual classrooms have become reality in the pandemic era, the New Education Policy
(NEP) throws light on the future of India’s human resources or at least the
plan for the next generation.
The NEP starts with “achieving
full human potential, developing an equitable and just society, and promoting
national development” describing fundamental aim of education.
It is notable that
India is a signatory of global education agenda or SDG4. The global education
development agenda reflected in the Goal4 (Sustainable Development Goal 4) of
the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by India in 2015 – seeks to
“ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning
opportunities for all” by 2030.
This agenda is enough
to tell about the future of education for a country as well as globe in the
next one decade. From artificial intelligence to machine learning and many more.
The NEP clearly says, “This
policy proposes the revision and revamping of all aspects of the education
structure, including its regulation and governance, to create a new system that
aligned with the aspirational goals of 21st century education,
including SDG4…”
Since the announcement
of NEP was made on the birth anniversary of the great educationist and visionary
Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will certainly not
let the opportunity to go during his national address to describe his vision
during NEP’s first anniversary.
