Modi's marathon meeting on Afganistan

Prime Minister Modi’s marathon meeting on the recent developments in Afghanistan has been covered in several publications. It is notable that the government is still assessing the outcome of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan. However, there are reports of talks to Taliban in Doha by Indian diplomats as US has announced end of evacuation.

According to the reports, the marathon meeting continued over three hours and discussed various aspects related to security and diplomatic concerns as well as regional co-operation and security.

Although, Afghanistan situation does not directly share its border with India but there are several concerns including Kashmir’s security and other trade related concerns.  Moreover, US has announced several changes in the global policies after the end of the evacuation.

It is expected that all these issues have been discussed during the meeting. Several senior ministers including defence, external affairs were present in the meeting , according to the reports.
