Whether will
new president-elect of US Joe Biden be pro-India or pro-China or pro-Pakistan?
This
question is being analyzed with curiosity among many forums despite the fact that federal agency in US has not declared a clear winner as yet. But before moving towards
this analysis it should be important to look at his connection with India. There are some of the media reports saying
that Biden has Indian connect and his great grandparents settled in India about
two century ago. New US vice-president-elect Kamala Harris’ connection is well
known.
Biden, has
been served as senator and vice-president of US for about four decades. He is
not new for India. He is well aware the importance of India-Pacific region and
Indian-Americans.
During his
campaign, he promised to citizenship to 11 million migrants including about
half a million citizenship for Indians.
As far as
jobs and trade are concern India is already the most important partner of US.
But, Biden
has also made an important promise on the issue of climate change. He has
promised to join Paris Climate agreement. This was desperately needed by the
entire world as environmental as well as climate issues affect everybody.
There are
several issues too like H1B Visa, jobs, pandemic and health, freedom of speech,
liberty and human rights and many more. But as both India and US need each
other in the progressively complicating global order, there is hardly any
possibility of metamorphosis in this relationship in the new era.
