As the global data of deaths and new cases of coronavirus is skyrocketing and daily mortality is about to touch scary 5000 mark/day Prime Minister Narendra Modi today told people of India to show’em power of light. “Andhere ko dikhayen ki prakash ki taqat kya hoti hai” (show power of light to darkness), said the PM in his 12 minute video address to the people of the nation exhorting people to unite against the pandemic.
This is fourth time that the PM Narendra Modi addressed the
nation in less than two week amid the battle against coronavirus. He asked
people to lit diya or candle for nine minutes in the night at 9.00 pm on 5th
April and also urged people to maintain social distance while doing so to
defeat coronavirus.
PM’s appeal has come a day after his interaction with state
Chief Ministers, in which, he asked the head of the provinces to strictly follow
the norms of lockdown and also asked the government to formulate the common
exit strategy to end the lockdown.
Meanwhile, the number new cases of coronavirus has reached to
over 72,000 in one single day as per global data. Unofficial data say that the total
number of cases have crossed over one million mark and total number of deaths
have reached to over 50,000 mark. However, WHO data says that total number of
deaths reached to 45693 and number of positive cases have reached to 900306.
As far as, India is concerned the total number of confirmed cases
have crossed 2200 and 73 deaths have been reported so far; as far as data is
concerned. The number has almost doubled in last 48 hours.Meanwhile,
political parties have criticised the government’s move of lockdown and said
that the step has been taken without proper preparations.
